Goal: Copenhagen Marathon 2008

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

The marathon distance has always had a mythical quality to me. I have often considered the possibility of running one, but previously I had never run any great distance and have brushed it off. After I started running in the fall of 2005, however, I found that I did enjoy longer distances, and the thought of running a marathon entered my mind again.

Nike Marathontest 1

Sunday, February 4th, 2007

I ran the Sparta Nike Marathontest 1 today. A 10 km race which is part of the Nike marathon tests 1-3 (10 km, 15 km, and half-marathon) in preparation for the Copenhagen Marathon. I’m not going to run the marathon, and can’t take part in the second and third tests, but thought I could use a little bit of race experience.

Running away from it all…

Friday, January 19th, 2007

I’m becoming more and more of a runner, and I do have a goal of running a marathon within the next couple of years. This year, my goal is to complete a half-marathon. To that end I’ve signed up for the B.T. Half Marathon on April 29.

Yes, I’m going to run a half-marathon! It hasn’t really sunk in yet, but I guess it will once I get closer. At least I have a focus for the next 14 weeks now :D

Now I would wish to run it in less than 1 hour 30 minutes, it is a dream goal, but something to work towards.

Victory? What Victory?

Monday, June 28th, 2004

Despite all our high hopes, Denmark is now also out of the Euro2004 tournament. After having dominated the first half of the game against the Czech Republic, without getting any real chances, the second half turned into a goal-fest. Unfortunately, the Czechs were responsible for all of them. Including two by Milan Baros.

During the first half where the chances were quite equally distributed, I still hoped Denmark would score. The goals didn’t start until the second half, however, where the Czechs started playing like they can (and the Danish defence collapsed totally for 15 minutes). 4 minutes after the break Jan Koller headed the ball into the far side of the goal. This was followed by two almost identical situations where a pass for Milan Baros shook off the Danish defenders and left him alone with Thomas Sørensen.

Congratulations to a Czech team who definitely wanted the victory more. Who knows, they might win the whole thing.

Nordic Victory

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2004

Conspiracy theorists unite, the match of Euro2000 for everyone in the Nordic countries with even the slightest interest in Soccer really did end 2-2. This match has been played loudly by Italian media as the ultimate conspiracy as 2-all would send Italy out of the tournament (almost) no matter what the result of their own match. Some Italian journalists even went as far as attempting to send a fax from the Swedish players hotel to the hotel housing the Danish team. I think most of us can imagine the headlines in the Italian newspapers tomorrow.

Though Denmark did deserve to win, this result is well deserved. As Denmark and Sweden begin the preparations for the quarter-finals, we look forward to their next meeting in the final itself.
